Bangkok or Bang-my-fucking-excitement

Hello.

As some of you may have already know, I had a tiny vacation to Bangkok, BKK, on the 6th of January till yesterday, the 9th of January.

Wait. Then why does my title include "bang-my-fucking-excitement"? Oh, hang on to your curiosity and behold, the story is about to begin.

Hmm, the first day was nothing but an entire being of excitement, eager to get to Bangkok to relax and have some fun. When I say fun, I mean non-stop shopping and eating. I have been awaiting for this trip since I was 13, constantly bugging my mom to bring me to Bangkok. I contemplated to go by myself instead but... I haven't been there in awhile and I don't wish to get my head into something that I am completely clueless about.

We had a early morning flight thus, arriving in Bangkok at about 9am or so. The timing in Singapore is one hour faster so I shall not speak much about specific timings. Anyway, the train ride and getting to the hotel was pretty easy since our hotel was located really near the Airport Railway Station, at Pratunam. We checked in and immediately scooted our way to Platinum Mall since it was the nearest to us. The Pratunam market started right outside the alley of our hotel, how convenient.

I guess with so much anticipation and excitement, I had really high expectations of what I would get out of the shopping and eating. I was looking forward to so much but I felt like I got out nothing but certain constant disappointments instead. However, I did find a few things that would make me want to go back again.

I don't wish to elaborate in detail how I spent about my days in Bangkok. I was really bumped that my mom didn't book a weekend stay so, I didn't visit Chatuchak at all. Though, I did make a trip down there only to find out that every stall opened were selling furnitures, soaps and oils. We did get a few bars of heavenly scented soaps and essential oils.

The worst part of this trip was the fact that we got scammed 1800baht (approx SGD$73).
On the first night, I told my mom about how Asiatique was "raved" as a must-go online so she said alright since she has never heard of that place in Bangkok too. We never took the public transports in Bangkok before so we took the taxi, considering the fact that we didn't want to get cheated and the taxi already had a meter. Well well well, the taxi driver told that all the food stalls are closed on a Tuesday night and that he knows this place that is near by Asiatique and he will bring us there. With that, he also mentioned that after we have had our "scrumptious meal", all we had to do is hail for a tuktuk and it wouldn't cost us more than 20baht to get us to Asiatique. Being a tourist, he chopped our naive heads and got a hold of our money through the commission he will be earning from our 1800 baht meal. Which by the way, tasted nasty as fuck and was the worst seafood meal I have ever had in my entire 16 years of life.

Okay now now, enough of all those unhappy experiences, we did manage to get great shopping deals at Watsons for cosmetics and apparels at tiny merket alleys at Siam Square. If you ask me, I think Siam Sqaure offers better deals than Platinum, I don't know why. That is just how I feel about it. MBK mall would be a great place for you if you want "A Grade branded goods" haha. Also, the night market outside MBK was really great too. Am still very annoyed that I didn't get the bag that I wanted to get, all because my mom said to check out other places first.

My best meal at Bangkok would definitely have been the 18baht (approx 70 cents SGD) noodles at Platinum mall. THEIR TOM YUM NOODLES WAS THE BOMB, I had that for 3 days in a row haha. On my last day, I had 4 bowls lol... don't judge. I guess this would explain my size haha. But I am still rather happy with my buys! hehe. For anymore questions, do ask me on my ask.fm!

If you want to get better branded goods deals you can purchase them at the Airport because the prices are duty-free! Just like how I got my Victoria Secret wallet for only $120 SGD (before a discount). I also got my ChloƩ perfume (full szie - 75ml) for only 48SGD. HAPPIEST BUY OF ALL.

That should be all for this lengthy post!

Chloe
